Back to School

Teacher Planner: Erin Condren, Glasses: Burberry, Coffee Mug: Alice+Olivia for Starbucks, iPad case & Stationery Set: Lilly Pulitzer (similar), Name Tag Holder: Vera Bradley (Ziggy Zinnia)

My back to school post today has two parts.  The first part includes my favorite teacher supplies for the new school year.  First of all, I have to talk about the most amazing teacher planner out there.  This planner is from Erin Condren, and it includes so many useful pages including student checklists and weekly planning pages.  I am so excited to use it (hopefully it will make planning a little more fun)! Next, the Vera Bradley luggage tags are perfect to hold your Staff ID and key card.  They are also easy to wipe off and keep clean. Sticky notes and flair pens (my favorite) are also teacher staples.  I also cannot make it through the day without my morning coffee, and this Alice & Olivia mug is my favorite (who wouldn't love a mug with a tutu?!).

Also, these apple cookies were ordered for back to school by a fellow teacher for her staff.  They were really fun to make and I made a few extra for my teammates also :)

(Sorry this post is so long)

Dress: H&M, Blazer: H&M, Flats: (old) also love these and these, Bags: Tory Burch (old) and Kate Spade also love this, Bracelet: Kate Spade (similar), Watch: Michael Kors, Earrings: Kate Spade, Lips: MAC Relentlessly Red, Sunglasses: (similar)

The second part of my post includes my first day of school outfit details.  I love back to school shopping as much now as I did when I was a student!  I love to wear a dress on the first day, but it is very important that I am comfortable (after all, I'm running around after 6 year olds all day).  This is also why flats are the most practical for me when I'm teaching (and I definitely don't need the extra height with my first graders).  When I go to school I usually carry a large bag that I can throw everything into including my binders and planner.  Sometimes when I use my larger bags I like to put a smaller bag inside that contains my personal items that need to be easily accessible, such as my keys, wallet, and phone.  This Kate Spade bag is perfect for that. I also like the addition of this blazer to make this dress look a little more professional, and it can be removed for recess duty :)

I cannot believe the first day of school is just a few days away! I have been in back to school mode the past few weeks getting my classroom ready for my first graders. I think I'm as ready as I'll ever be!  Bring on the first day!  I'm taking the weekend off and trying my best to not think about school for a few days.  I am really excited because I am leaving today to go to Philadelphia with Zach for the weekend to visit my sister and brother-in-law. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Fall Boot Preview

Also just ordered these (obsessed!)
PS- Tory Burch is having a Labor Day Sale! Check it out!

This morning it felt a little chilly out when I woke up, and I finally began to believe that fall is on the way.  I was suddenly craving a crisp fall day so that I could wear my new fall boots.  Every year I tell myself I do not need to buy any more boots, and every year when the new boots start coming out in stores I find myself wanting so many (especially when the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale rolls around).  These are the ones I have bought this year.  They are a pretty wide range of styles and heights and I cannot wait to start wearing them.  Happy almost fall!

Blush & Backless

Dress: Forever 21 (similar) also love this and this, Shoes: Tory Burch (wedges still available), Bag: H&M also love this and this, Sunglasses: Nordstrom, Bracelets: ILY Couture and Alex & Ani, Necklace: H&M (similar), Earrings: Kate Spade

My favorite color for the past few months has definitely been blush pink.  In the spring I bought a ton of this color.  It is so feminine and the perfect spring and summer color.  These Tory Burch sandals have been my go to shoes this summer.  I love everything about them especially the bows!  I debated between the wedges and flats, and I thought the flats would be more practical for me (although the wedges are adorable too). I'm so excited to start wearing fall clothes and boots, but I'm going to miss my sandals and sundresses (and it is hard to imagine wearing boots in this hot humid weather we have been having!). Thanks for stopping by!

Easy Breezy

Dress: H&M (now on sale!), Shoes: Forever 21 (similar), Bag: Tory Burch, Necklace: Love Always, Bracelet: Tory Burch, Ring: Swarovski, Earrings: Kate Spade, Hat: H&M (similar), Sunglasses: (similar), Lips: MAC Relentlessly Red

Happy Monday! This is my last week of summer vacation, and I can't believe I will have a classroom full of brand new first graders next Tuesday! I am trying to enjoy my time off as much as possible this week before things get crazy.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I love summer hats.  I wear them all the time, and this black one is one of my favorites.  I have had it for a few years, but there are many similar ones out there.  In the summer I also love to wear flowy dresses.  This one is easy to throw on and I liked that it was a little different from other high low skirts or dresses.  In the summer I wear a lot of maxi dresses and skirts because they are so comfortable. This dainty bow necklace is also one of my favorites.  It is very simple but it can be worn with so many different things.  It is now available for preorder and I highly recommend you snatch one up before they are out of stock! Thanks for stopping by!

Summer Blues

Crop & Skirt 2-Piece Set: Rococo, Shoes: Steve Madden, Hat: H&M (similar), Blazer: H&M, Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters, Bag: (similar) Bracelets: ILY Couture and Tory Burch, Rings: H&M

As summer is quickly coming to an end, I have been searching my closet for summer pieces I want to make sure I wear before it gets too cold.  In the spring I usually purchase a lot of summer clothes in anticipation of warmer weather.  What happens most of the time is that summer flies by and I forget about some of the pieces I bought! That is the case with this 2-piece set.  I purchased it in May and I had forgotten about it all summer. I wanted to make sure I wore it before I had to wait another year! I really loved the idea of a high waist skirt and crop set, and I had been searching for the perfect one.  I found this one at a local boutique in Northville, MI, and as soon as I saw it I snatched it up before it was too late (they usually only have one or two per size and things go quickly as soon as they come in). I loved the fun print with all different blues and a little black.  I also loved the unique back of the crop.

I also wanted to show that this look can easily go from day to night simply by adding a blazer.  When I first started wearing crops I was a little nervous to have my stomach showing so I would wear them with a sweater or blazer.  That way I could show a little skin without feeling too exposed.  If you are hesitant about crops I definitely recommend starting with something high waisted and adding a blazer for a little more coverage.

Summer hats are another summer favorite of mine.  I love different styled fedoras and I love a big floppy hat.  They are so practical for the summer when you are near the water or at the beach (which I usually am a lot in the summer).  They are functional and adorable, how could you go wrong! I'm trying to enjoy every last bit of sunshine before school starts after Labor Day. Thanks for stopping by!

A Taste of Summer

Skirt: H&M, Shirt: (similar), Shoes: Sole Society (also love these and these), Bag: Tory Burch, Necklace: Gigglosophy on Etsy, Bracelet: Brina Box, Ring: Swarovski, Earrings: Kate Spade
Lips: MAC, Sunglasses: (similar)

A few sweet summer treats...
Hamburger cupcakes
Baseball cake pops
Hamburger cookies

A major perk of being a teacher is having the summer off.  I love that I have more time to try different recipes, and there are so many fun summer treats to make for parties and BBQs.  I especially liked making the hamburger cookies (with York peppermint patties) and cupcakes (with brownie patties) with coconut lettuce and frosting ketchup & mustard.  The Tigers baseball cake pops and 4th of July cake pops were also a hit!  Cake pops are always a crowd pleaser and one of my personal favorite desserts.

I have also been loving skirts and crops this summer. This is one summer look that includes both.  This skirt is definitely one that can be dressed up or down and worn through many seasons.  I can't believe fall is right around the corner.  I will have to wear my summer dresses and sandals as much as possible before summer is over! Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
