Wedding Day Prep!

Today I wanted to share with you all about my favorite wedding prep products!  Our hair and makeup was done by the very talented Makeup Loft (using their own makeup line, Cosmakery). I have gotten my hair and makeup done with Janelle and her team several times, and I always love the way everything turns out. They make you look like the most beautiful version of yourself.  It was an obvious and easy choice for me when it came to deciding who to use for my wedding hair and makeup.  Janelle and her team come to you on your big day, which is so convenient, and makes the getting ready process even more fun! The best part is you can buy all the wonderful products Janelle uses.
All of the products can be purchased online here, and there are a few pieces you NEED to try now - my 3 must haves!
First is this translucent blotting powder.  I use mine ALL the time and I haven't needed to replace mine yet (it has been over 2 years since I bought it). It is perfect to keep in your purse, to apply whenever you need, to keep the shine away and make your makeup look fresh.
I also love their lipgloss. I'm wearing 'Sweet 16', which can be found here.  I'm wearing it over lip color, but it looks great on its own as well.
Last, but certainly not least, is their buffing foundation.  This is the best foundation I have ever used, period.  It is lightweight, but provides great coverage.  I highly suggest you buy the foundation with the brush which can be purchased here. I don't think I will ever use another foundation again. I always loved the way it looked when Janelle used it on me, and once I tried it for myself at home, I was hooked.

Also, before the big day, I used (my now favorite) Tula products. I swear by these products. They make your skin feel amazing. I use the day & night cream and cleanser every day. I also LOVE this deodorant. I had never found a deodorant that I really liked until I found this one. Once you use it, you won't want to use anything else.

As far as our getting ready outfits, I actually bought the shirts on their own, and had a family friend monogram them. But there are a ton of similar ones on Etsy that you can buy already monogrammed like these. I wanted us to wear something different than robes, and these shirts were the perfect option. They were easy to get on and off during hair and makeup, and they were really comfortable to wear with shorts or whatever else on the bottom. I also wore this bralette (my all time favorite). I also got these sleep masks for my girls for the night before the wedding (pictured below).

As part of the bridesmaid gifts, I also got my girls Tory Burch flip flopsThey were perfect for getting ready and great for the girls to bring to the reception to change into later in the night. I wore these white Tory Burch sandals for getting ready and changed into them later in the night too.

The bridesmaid dressed are Jenny Yoo (available at Nordstrom) in the color 'Cameo Pink'. I also just found that there is a gorgeous skirt version available too!

I chose these blush Christian Louboutin heels for my wedding shoes and I absolutely loved them. I love that I'll wear them over and over and I'll always think about our special day. They are definitely going to get a lot of use this spring & summer. This style of Louboutin is, in my opinion, the most comfortable. I had no problem wearing them all day (100 mm is definitely the way to go vs. 120 mm).

When it came to wedding hotels, we chose The Inn on Ferry Street in Detroit. This is where we all got ready the day of the wedding and where we stayed the night before and the night of the wedding. The Inn on Ferry Street consists of 4 historic mansions that were renovated and turned into a bed and breakfast/hotel. Zach and I loved how unique the Inn was, and that it was different from so many more traditional and popular hotels downtown. It has an adorable courtyard that made you feel like you weren't in the middle of a city! Our suite had a large balcony too, so we could sit outside. Each room in each house is unique and different. Also, the main living area/common space in the house was so nice to have available too! Since our wedding guests took up two of the houses. the common space was completely ours. It was perfect for our family, friends, and relatives to hang out and visit. I also loved that we were the only big event there at the time. They were so accommodating and helpful while we were there.  The staff at the Inn even sent us a Christmas card to our new house and a box of our favorite Detroit chocolates (Bon Bon Bon chocolate is the BOMB - you have to check them out). I love that they remember us and I highly recommend checking out the Inn, even if you don't stay there overnight. It is such a cool place. We had an awesome experience with them and we will definitely go back and stay there!

I can't believe it has taken me so long to finally get this post up, but I'm glad I finally did! I will be posting one more wedding post sharing a few more pictures from the day (then I promise I will be done sharing all the wedding stuff!). Look for that post coming soon in the next week or two!

Photos were taken by the fabulous team at A Thousand Words Photography.
